Drivers of Adoption Intensity of BRRI Released Modern Aus Rice Varieties: Evidence from Smallholders Farmers in Jamalpur District of Bangladesh

This study was conducted to determine factors influencing the intensity of BRRI cultivar adoption in Aus season on farm households Jamalpur district. The data were collected through structured questionnaires from 200 randomly selected rice farmers three upazilas employed descriptive statistics and Tobit-censored regression adoption. In addition, ten FGDs expert panel interviews verify data. results show that 88.04% area district cultivated with varieties developed by Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), an average yield 3.85 t/ha during season. findings Tobit censored indicate schooling, distance local market, UAO, training, price variation, taste preference, number varieties, variability significant variety study's suggested breeders should also emphasise farmers' choices while developing varieties. addition new BRRI, Department Agricultural Extension (DAE), Corporation (BADC), other seed-producing organisations need work together provide good-quality seeds which will increase country's total production thus help ensure food safety.
